Take the Next Step
You become ready by showing up
This week, I stopped waiting to feel ready.
I started saying things out loud.
Saying It Out Loud
When I was younger, I shared whatever was on my mind—projects, ideas, anything that excited me.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped.
What would people think?
What if I didn’t follow through?
What if I failed?
So I kept things to myself.
Ideas stayed in my head instead of in the world.
Trying Something Different
This week, I did something simple.
I started introducing myself as a Reiki healer.
I expected skepticism.
Instead, people were curious.
They asked questions. They leaned in. They wanted to know more.
That surprised me.
Sharing What’s Not Finished
I also talked about a podcast I’ve been working on—interviews I’ve recorded that I hope to edit and publish this summer.
I’ve felt embarrassed about not finishing it.
But when I said it out loud, something changed.
I saw it differently.
I realized I prioritized what needed to come first. Now I’m returning to it with more clarity.
There are still steps ahead—like transcribing the interviews—but that’s part of the process.
It’s not about perfection.
It’s about building something, learning as you go, and refining it until it feels right.
Letting People In
I had a conversation with another writer who asked if I had any new story ideas.
Normally, I wouldn’t share until everything was outlined.
But I did.
I talked about the premise, the protagonist, the themes—what drew me to the story.
He leaned in.
He told me he found it fascinating.
He asked me to keep him posted.
What I’m Seeing Now
There’s something I’m beginning to understand.
Confidence doesn’t come first.
It follows action.
You don’t wait until you feel ready.
You become ready by showing up.
A Pattern I Didn’t Notice
When I was younger, I jumped into ideas without hesitation.
Some I finished.
Some I refined over time.
Some I walked away from.
But I moved.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped moving when it came to my own ideas.
I realized something this week.
I have no problem starting projects for others.
But when it comes to my own work, I hesitate.
And saying things out loud breaks that pattern.
This Week’s Practice
Action: Take One Step Forward
This week, take one real step that moves your path forward.
Something visible. Something concrete.
It might be:
reaching out to someone about a collaboration
sending an email you’ve been putting off
sharing your work publicly
scheduling something that makes your path real
Not perfect.
Not fully formed.
Just real.
Reflection
Clarity doesn’t come before action.
It comes from action.
Each step shows you something you couldn’t see before.
Journal Prompts
Choose one that resonates. Or explore all three if you have the space.
Option 1
What step have I been putting off that I’m ready to take now?
Option 2
What am I waiting to feel before I act?
Option 3
What would it look like to move forward without having everything figured out?
A Note From the Trail
You don’t have to see the whole way ahead.
Just take the next step.
The trail will meet you there.
See you on the trail.
